DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: Child Nutrition Services Assistant II incumbents perform more responsible preparation and service activities at middle school or high school kitchens and may be responsible for the efficient operation of an elementary food service site. Incumbents in the Child Nutrition Services Assistant III classification serve as a second-in-command of a middle school or high school kitchen, coordinate catering services, and cook and bake food items from scratch. The Child Nutrition Services Assistant I classification performs entry-level food preparation and service to students at assigned school sites. Work Environment The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 10% sitting, 60% walking, and 30% standing. The job is performed under temperature extremes and under conditions with exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
