How to Become a Trained Bartender!

Barback
An employee who wants to break into bartending can first become a barback which can be a stepping stone to becoming a bartender. A barback essentially is in charge of all the heavy work like lifting kegs, stocking bottles, glasses and also clean surfaces like the bar counters, etc.
A barback can work for a year before they can move up to the next level.  The bar back is like a busser who extends a helping hand to the bartender.
It can be an excellent opportunity to learn the craft from close quarters.
Legal Age Requirements
Bartenders who wish to enter the profession must be anywhere between 18-21 years old and one must be between 16-21 years old to serve alcohol depending on the state one is working.
One must check the state requirements and see that aspiring bartenders do not get into legal hassles with regards to age and bar management criteria.
Bartending Schools
There are a lot of bartending schools in the US that teach courses on how to use equipment at the bar and how to become a trained bartender.
If you wish to take up a course, it is highly recommended to choose a course that is licensed by the State Department of Education. The course must take at least 40 hours to complete.
Students can learn how to mix and pour beverages including mocktails and cocktails. They may also learn how to ring the cash register along with understanding and familiarizing themselves with health and safety hazards at the workplace.
The bartending profession, however, requires real-time experience. Make sure you get enough experience.
Certifications
Aspiring bartenders can get firsthand knowledge of the proper laws and legal requirements to serve alcohol in any particular state in the US. It’s better if one is familiar with all these before they start their professional life as a bartender.
Local laws, certifications and legal requirements or any other courses can be taken to get a step up before entering the bar and starting the career.
On the Move
Bartenders must keep themselves healthy as they undertake a lot of manual work on the job. One must do regular exercise as they do a lot of lifting, and walking.
It will be very beneficial if they stretch, exercise regularly to overcome the on-job tiredness.
Bartenders can also wear non-slip footwear as bars are sticky places lots of liquids are handled and spilled.
So exercise your way to a healthy bartending career.
Expert Help
Bartenders can get expert help from their seniors/peers who can teach them from their very own personal experiences.
Real-time experiences are any day more helpful than any course or any certification.
Watch and Learn
Bartenders can also spend some time and watch trained experienced bartenders to pour, mix and serve drinks to their clients in a fully packed bar.
Watching can also help aspiring bartender’s knowledge on how to conduct themselves and become better at their profession.
