 A waiter must also know their menu so that they can assist the guests when taking the order. There will be a lot of unruly guests, peak hour customers who must be handled with patience and politeness.

What are the basic duties of a waiter?
Welcome the guests/customers and greet them with relevant pleasantries.
Next, take orders for what the guests would like to eat/drink and then serve them their orders.
Also, offer any food and drink recommendations and let guests know if they have any special day offers and discounts.
List down any details regarding any food and drink allergies and communicate this information with the kitchen staff for food preparations.
Answer questions or queries related to any orders or see if they have complaints and try to resolve them.
See if the guests are satisfied with the service and close the service if the food and drink orders are not coming in.
Broach the check word and ask if the guests would like to get their check sent in.
Take the payment either cash or card. Be adept with the way the card payment can be administered.
Lastly, clean the tables and reset it for the next guests who might want to walk-in
