How to become a barista?

Coffee is a drink which accounts as one of the drinks most preferred in the US. You can pick up a freshly brewed coffee and coffee-based at most coffee shops/joints serving drinks and beverages in various flavors mostly served by a barista.

If you have an outgoing personality and interested in meeting and interacting with new people, being a barista is a good choice for a career. Barista is also a very good choice if you want to make a job switch or if you are a beginner just starting  new career.

Who is a Barista?
Barista is an employee working in a coffee shop. A barista prepares and serves coffee and related beverages to customers. As a barista, one has to prepare coffee, espresso, latte, or any other drink requested by customers in a fast-paced work environment with a bustling crowd in the coffee joint.

A barista must also be able to multi-task and oversee the counter apart from dispensing coffee drinks in a timely manner with a cute smile on the face and greet everyone in the coffee joint.

What are the education requirements for a barista?
There is no specific education requirement required for becoming a barista. A person can get the required on-the-job training when they enter the profession to become a barista. So anyone can apply for the open positions.

There is no formal education that is required to become a barista. However in some states, to be a barista one must be 18 years or older.
 
What kind of on-the-job training does a barista get?
An employer typically prepares a newly employed barista with an extensive on-the-job training program. The training will involve the barista learning how to use the coffee making equipment.

The barista will also learn about the sanitation and safety guidelines that are a must for the job.  

What are the must-have skills for a barista?
A barista must have good interpersonal, organizational and communication skills with a positive attitude and must be a team player with excellent listening skills and must engage and nurture client and customer relationships.

What are the qualifications needed for a barista?
It’s good for an aspiring barista to hold a high school certificate and must meet the minimum age requirement of 18 years or above. It will be a physically strenuous job so the candidate must physically fit to lift and push equipment during the on-the-job training.

If the candidate has previous experience it will be beneficial for the barista as it will teach him to work in a team, to be responsible and to be punctual.

What are the basic duties and responsibilities of a barista?
A barista greets every customer and answer any questions related to their drink orders and also offer recommendations. The barista must also restock and record inventory and must be able to use all the machinery or equipment in the coffee joint.
In addition, a barista must also have skills to advertise the coffee shop/joint products and services.
