STATEMENT OF THE JOB: Under the overall supervision of the Early Childhood Director and the direct supervision of the Center Manager. Perform duties related to food service and maintaining a clean facility and playground. Work as a teacher aide in classrooms when needed. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Assist in creating a warm and welcoming environment that supports childrens growth and development. Maintain a professional attitude with staff, parents, volunteers, and children at all times. Assist in the daily preparation and serving of breakfast, snacks and/or lunches including preparation of infant food and formula in the Migrant & Seasonal programs. Responsible for daily cleaning of the building, including, but not limited to: clean-up of dishes and utensils, vacuum all carpeted / rug areas, spot clean as needed, clean all tile floors, take trash out and wash garbage cans, laundry, clean childrens and staff bathrooms. Assist in keeping the kitchen area clean, organized and sanitary, including proper storage of food and supplies. Thoroughly clean the refrigerator and freezer at least weekly. Assist and serve as a backup for the Food Service Manager in daily food preparation. Assist Food Service Manager in preparing documentation relating to nutrition. Assist with transporting food to designated sites. Responsible for wearing Non-skid footwear while working in the kitchen. Cut-resistant gloves must be worn when using cutting tools, knives, etc. in the kitchen. Assist in obtaining and documenting In-Kind (Non-Federal Match) for parent and community activities. Work cooperatively with all classroom / center staff. Responsible for data management in designated areas. Assist in the avoidance or appearance of fraud and insurance of compliance in designated areas. NON-ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Respect confidentiality in all aspects of the Program. PURPOSE OF THIS POSITION The purpose of the Food Service Aide is to work in the cafeteria at the deli/grill and register. The position is responsible for making sandwiches, running the register and following food safety guidelines. JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Duty 1: Food Assembly- Cooks & assembles food items accurately according to Sodexo Guidelines and Standards. Measures and follows directions accurately. Duty 2: Food Service - Runs registers, stock & cleans according to Sodexo standards. Provides excellent customer service. Duty 3: Sanitation and Cleaning- Cleans and sanitizes workstation in accordance to Sodexo, BVHS and all other regulatory agencies. Duty 4: Record Keeping- Maintains accurate record keeping in specific areas (cafeteria and Healing Grounds) for food temperatures logs, equipment, cash worksheets, cash drawers and production logs per established guidelines. May be responsible for handling cash, counting cash drawers, reconciling cash at end of shift. Duty 5: Productivity- Promptly initiates assignments and proceeds in an efficient and timely manner. Meets established deadlines and the needs of the organization. Duty 6: Safety Focus- Attends monthly safety in-services and practices safety in the daily performance of tasks. Reads and signs monthly safety topics. Duty 7: Meeting Attendance- attends meetings on a monthly basis. The associate will be required to stand for eight hours a day. The individual must be able to lift twenty to fifty pounds and reach work above the shoulders. The associate must have eye-hand coordination and finger dexterity. The individual must have corrected vision and hearing in the normal range.
