Sodexo School Services seeks a dynamic, experienced Executive Chef 1 to fill a key leadership role in establishing and maintaining an exceptionally high level of culinary standards, at Belvidere School District, in Belvidere, IL.

Executive Chef will be responsible for:

  • Improved presentation standards and quality control
  • New recipe development
  • Training of cooks
  • Display cooking
  • Create a battle of the student's chef's event
  • Conduct food tasting for all new items
  • Communication resource for students, board members and the cafeteria committee
  • District education of the National School Lunch Program and guidelines
  • Develop new teacher and catering menu
  • Direct daily operations for catering services
  • Maintain operating standards, implement quality improvements and communicate them to employees

Seeking bilingual candidates; the ability to speak Spanish will assist in managing this workforce.

You will focus on the culinary aspects of our K-12 offering with emphasis on USDA nutrition regulations, NSLP, product quality & presentation, food cost controls, culinary staff training and driving enhancements with Farm to School initiatives and healthy dining options. A Culinary Degree is preferred; K-12 Schools experience is a plus!

The best qualified candidate will have extensive experience in high volume food production, strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with diverse work groups. Seeking candidates with proven financial acumen and a working knowledge of computer programs and applications. Position Summary

Provides culinary leadership within a small sized unit including menu planning, program execution and staff management & training. Works directly with internal and external clients managing the catering process from beginning through execution
